Michael Giacchino Scoring Marvel’s ‘Werewolf by Night’ Halloween Special
Michael Giacchino (Up, Lost, The Batman, Jurassic World, The Incredibles, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) has confirmedthat he is scoring Marvel Studios’ upcoming Halloween special Werewolf by Night. The composer is also directing the project, which is co-directed by Jaycob Maya and stars Gael García Bernal in the title role of Jack Russell, as well as Laura Donnelly, Harriet Sansom Harris, Eugenie Bondurant and Maya himself. Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito and Victoria Alonso are executive producing the special.Giacchino has previously composed music for numerous features for Marvel, including Spider-Man: Homecoming, Far from Home & No Way Home, Doctor Strange and this year’s Thor: Love and Thunder. Werewolf by Night will premiere on October 7, 2022 on Disney+.
Danny Elfman Scoring Noah Baumbach’s ‘White Noise’
Danny Elfman (Batman, Spider-Man, Alice in Wonderland, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands) has revealed in a recent interview with iNews that he is composing the original score for the upcoming Netflix original film White Noise. The movie is directed by Noah Baumbach (Marriage Story, The Squid and the Whale) and stars Adam Driver, Greta Gerwig, Raffey Cassidy, Alessandro Nivola, André Benjamin, Jodie Turner-Smith and Don Cheadle. The horror comedy is based on Don DeLillo’s epochal postmodern 1985 novel of the same title and follows a professor and father-of-four whose comfortable suburban college town life and marriage to a secretive woman are upended after a horrifying nearby accident creates an airborne toxic event of frightening and unknowable proportions. White Noise will premiere at this year’s Venice Film Festival and will debut on Netflix later this year.
Tom Holkenborg to Return for Adam Wingard’s ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ Sequel
Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures announced today that Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL) (Mad Max: Fury Road, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Deadpool, Sonic the Hedgehog, Alita: Battle Angel) is returning to score the upcoming (currently untitled) Godzilla vs. Kong sequel. The film will be directed by Adam Wingard (You’re Next, The Guest) and stars Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry and Kaylee Hottle who reprise their roles from the first movie. They are joined by new cast members Dan Stevens, Alex Ferns, Fala Chen and Rachel House. Terry Rossio (Pirates of the Caribbeanseries), Jeremy Slater (Moon Knight) and Simon Barrett (The Guest) wrote the screenplay. Mary Parent (The Revenant, Pacific Rim), Alex Garcia (Enola Holmes), Eric Mcleod (Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Austin Powers), Brian Rogers (Godzilla, Godzilla: King of the Monsters) and Thomas Tull & Jon Jashni (Pacific Rim, Kong: Skull Island) are producing the project. Holkenborg’s music from last year’s first Godzilla vs. Kong movie is available from WaterTower Music. The sequel is scheduled to be released in theaters on March 15, 2024.
The World Soundtrack Academy has announced the nominees for the 2022 World Soundtrack Awards in the categories of Film Composer of the Year, Television Composer of the Yearand Best Original Song. The winners will be announced at the 22nd World Soundtrack Awards ceremony, which will take place at the renovated Concert Hall of Music Centre De Bijloke in Ghent on October 22, 2022. Mark Isham has previously been announced as guest of honor and Bruno Coulais will receive this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award. The rest of the nominations will be revealed in September.

First Track from Marvel’s ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’ Soundtrack Released
Hollywood Records & Marvel Music have released the theme from the Marvel Studios’ new Disney+ original series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. The track is written by the show’s composer Amie Doherty (Spirit Untamed, Undone, The High Note, Happiest Season, Battle at Big Rock) and is now available to stream/download as a digital single on all major digital music platforms, including Amazon. Soundtrack Album for Disney+’s ‘Light & Magic’ to Be Released
Walt Disney Records will release a soundtrack album for Lucasfilm’s Disney+ original docuseries Light & Magic. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee James Newton Howard (The Hunger Games, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, King Kong, The Sixth Sense, The Fugitive, Maleficent), as well as additional music tracks by Michael Dean Parsons, Xander Rodzinski & Tobin Pugash. ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ Soundtrack Album Details
The full details of the first soundtrack album for the Amazon original series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power have been revealed. The album features selections of the original score from the show’s first season composed by Emmy Award winner Bear McCreary (Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Outlander, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Battlestar Galactica, The Walking Dead, Happy Death Day). Also included is the main title theme by Academy Award winner Howard Shorewho previously scored the The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit film trilogies. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, August 19 and will be available to stream on Amazon (featuring two Amazon Music exclusive tracks, Find the Light and The Promised King) and any other major digital music services. Physical versions are set to be released on October 14 (CD) and January 13, 2023 (vinyl) by Mondo.
